One Piece: Here’s When & Where Sanji Finds the All Blue!

As we well know, the Straw Hat Pirates of One Piece are a truly incredible group with many different characters who have managed to bond over common ideals and goals. We also know that each of them joined Luffy's crew because they liked his idealism and because they had their own dreams. As for Sanji, his goal is to find the All Blue, and in this article, we will explain everything related to this issue.

The All Blue is a small, legendary sea whose existence has not been proven, but is supposedly the only real meeting point of the North Blue, South Blue, East Blue, and West Blue. It was first mentioned in Chapter 56 and Episode 26 of the series, but it has not been discovered at the time of writing. Based on the assumption that all the Straw Hats will have their dreams come true by the end of the series, Sanji will likely reach All Blue at some point, making his and his mentor Zeff's dream a reality. However, at this point, the "when" part is unknown, as we don't know where All Blue is at the moment.

The remainder of this article will be a combined look at Sanji and All Blue in One Piece. We'll connect these two topics and explain how they relate to each other, as well as how it all ties into the overall geography of One Piece's world. Sanji is one of the most popular and interesting characters in the series, so his story and relationship with All Blue is worth writing about. This article may contain spoilers, so be careful how you approach it.

Sanji hasn't found All Blue yet, but he probably will in the future.

Sanji, born Vinsmoke Sanji before abandoning his last name and nicknamed Black-Leg Sanji, is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates. Sanji learned the culinary arts at the Baratie, a floating restaurant owned by Red-Leg Zeff, a former pirate. He is the fifth member of the Pirates and the third to accept Luffy's invitation. He is the first member of the crew not from the East Blue. He remained anonymous for a long time before becoming known to the world as Black-Leg Sanji.

He embarks alongside Luffy in an effort to find the legendary All Blue, which has a very important and symbolic meaning for all chefs and is also important to Sanji for personal reasons. Long known simply as Sanji, he is actually the 3rd son and 4th child of the Vinsmoke family, making him a prince of the Germa Kingdom. His overall role in the story is great, and while he is often comic relief due to his simple nature and the fact that he mostly just cooks, he has a lot of depth and is a truly complex and intriguing character.

Now, to understand why All Blue is so important, we need to tell you a little about the world of One Piece, as it is a very specific world that needs to be understood before being analyzed in more detail.

The world of One Piece is the "name" of the unnamed world where the series takes place. In Chapter 392, we learn that the world of One Piece is a planet made mostly of water and has six satellites (including the moon), two asteroids orbiting the world, and a final one orbiting one of the satellites. Also note that the world rotates at an angle of 24°-25°, the same as Earth's. The era in which the story takes place, the Great Age of Piracy, closely resembles the colonial eras of the real world.

In the world of One Piece, there appear to be three main types of environments, all inhabited and civilized. The first is the Blue Sea, a vast ocean spanning the entire world. The next is the Sky Sea (or "White Sea"), which, as the name suggests, is an environment in the sky. The latter is the bottom of the oceans, of which Fish-Man Island appears to be the only inhabited area.

The Blue Sea is divided into four main seas, which also constitute the four main sectors of the Blue Sea. They are:

  • North Blue is the northernmost ocean of the Blue Sea and is the birthplace of some important characters, such as Sanji of the Straw Hat Pirates, Trafalgar Law of the Heart Pirates, and the famous explorer Mont Blanc Noland.
  • South Blue is the southernmost ocean of the Blue Sea, and the ocean St. Briss sailed on during his ill-fated journey to Skypiea. Franky, Eustass Kid, Inazuma, and Portgas D. Ace all hail from South Blue.
  • East Blue is the easternmost ocean of the Blue Sea and is best known as the birthplace of the late Pirate King Gol D. Roger and other famous characters, such as Monkey D. Luffy, Monkey D. Dragon, and Roronoa Zoro.
  • West Blue is the westernmost ocean of the Blue Sea, best known for being the former home of Ohara Island before the World Government destroyed it. Notable characters in West Blue include Nico Robin, Brooks, and Doctor Hogback.

There's also the Grand Line, which is irrelevant to this article. So, now that we've clarified that, where does the All Blue fit in here? Well, the All Blue is a hypothetical sea where the four main seas of the Blue Sea meet, so it's the only place in the world where the four main seas meet.

Its existence has not been confirmed, which is why it is the subject of many legends, but many believe it exists and want to find it, especially cooks, as it is considered the dreamland of all cooks and chefs. This is why Sanji wants to find it, but it is also why Sanji's mentor, Red-Leg Zeff, wanted to find it.

But why do chefs love All Blue so much? Well, it's said to be the only place home to fish from all four major seas, as fish from all over the world live there, meaning chefs have an abundance of food sources to work their magic on.

So far, canonical works have not officially confirmed that All Blue actually exists, but several filler anime episodes scattered throughout the series have confirmed that it might actually exist. Regardless, All Blue is still a mythical place at this point, and we'll have to wait a little longer for Oda to reveal whether or not it exists—that is, whether Sanji will find it in the end.
