Luffy is a boy who is always smiling and devoted to his friends. He always defends those who are wronged, which usually ends in a bigger fight. He tirelessly strives to achieve his greatest dream: to become the new Pirate King. Luffy, usually naive, shows his more serious side in critical moments. He can then break all boundaries, especially regarding his body. He tries to be the best captain he can be, but his childish tendencies often get him and the crew into trouble.

Luffy has a terrible sense of direction and often finds his way using completely random methods, such as thinking that the north is the coldest place. Although Luffy is very energetic and seems like an unwavering man who will never give up, after the death of his half-brother, our hero suffers a nervous breakdown, leading to great aggression and despair because he believes he failed to save him. Jinbe helps him control his aggression by reminding him of his friends' hopes for him.

Another characteristic of the Straw Hat Pirates' captain is his incredible appetite and love for all kinds of meat. The boy can eat as much food as several adults. Another thing about Luffy is that he can't lie. This is also often an embarrassment for his crew, as Luffy sometimes admits things he shouldn't. In addition to the things mentioned above, he, like his grandfather, can fall asleep incredibly quickly. According to the Straw Hat Pirates, the Pirate King is the person with the most freedom.

He also doesn't want to know anything about One Piece because it would make the adventure boring. When it comes to adventures, the Straw Hat captain simply loves them. When asked where he goes after arriving on an island, he replies that he goes in search of an adventure. Many things set Luffy apart from others, but probably the most important thing is his unimaginable gullibility. A good example of this is the event at Whiskey Peak, where Luffy mistakenly fought Zoro.

As for Yamato, it must be said that although she is a girl, her admiration for Oden is such that she considers herself a man and has the same goals as the latter, namely to reopen the borders of the country of Wano. Furthermore, just like the samurai did, she wishes to leave Wano and set sail with the Straw Hat Pirates. However, she then chooses to visit the country as Oden had previously done. It is precisely because she considers herself a man that she also went to the men's restroom.

Yamato is also willing to do anything to achieve her goals, having practically kidnapped Luffy just so she could talk to him, continuing her intention after being attacked by the pirate. She has shown herself to be quite brave, not hesitating to face Kaido alone even though she knew she couldn't defeat him, just to buy as much time as possible until Luffy recovers. Like her father, she also enjoys fighting.

As you can see, Yamato and Luffy are quite similar and seem like a very interesting clash in their personalities. But since they are both impetuous and more instinctive, they might be too similar for someone's liking. And while that's not the biggest issue here, the fact that Yamato considers himself a man could be a problem. Yamato and Luffy had a very interesting relationship, as they were initially enemies but eventually became great friends. After failing to sail with Ace, Yamato waited for Ace's brother, Luffy, to arrive at Onigashima. After the encounter, Yamato trusted him to the point of asking for his help in opening Wano's borders. Once the pirate freed her from her explosive handcuffs, the two decided to team up against Kaido. During the fight with her father, Yamato stated that he wanted to sail with Luffy and his crew once the war was over and that he was the man Oden had been waiting for. She also had full confidence in the Straw Hat Pirates' ability to defeat Kaido.

As you can see, the two of them became friends, but she was never romantically interested in Luffy.
