The Great Calamity - 400 years before the start of the series, the Witch of Envy went on a rampage, destroying nearly half the world, before being sealed away by Shaula , Reid Astrea, the great sage Flugel, and the dragon Volcania. The Witch of Envy also defeated the other 6 Witches of Sin during this time.
Four hundred years ago - The current king of Lugnica, Farsale Lugnica, makes a pact with Volcania to protect the kingdom of Lugnica from the Vollachia Empire.
One hundred years ago - The Elior Forest in the Kingdom of Lugnica is attacked by the Sin Archbishop of Greed and the Witch of Vanity. Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti absorbs the Sorcerous Factor of Sloth in an attempt to protect the forest's inhabitants, but is instead tricked into killing Fortuna by the Witch of Vain Glory, driving him mad and leading him to become the Archbishop of Sloth. Emily freezes the forest in self-defense, trapping herself and most of the forest's elves in the ice.
Approximately fifty years ago - In Lugnica, a ten-year civil war raged between humans and the nation's demihuman population, known as the Demihuman War. Before this, racial tensions between humans and demihumans were already unfavorable, as the Witch of Envy was a half-elf, leading to the idea that demihumans were heretics. The war began as a small battle between a human village and a demihuman village, but escalated into a national conflict after the human village's representatives were murdered by an unknown group, leading both sides to blame each other.
Two notable figures in this war were the Sword Saint Theresa of Astrea , and the "Devil with a Sword" William of Astrea (then known as Wilhelm Trias). The demihumans eventually capitulated, surrendering to human forces. This war worsened the already strained relations between humans and non-humans in Lugnica.
About forty years ago - Stride Vollachia summoned Valgren, the black dragon, to attack Piccoutatte, one of the regional capitals of the Kingdom of Lugnica. The dragon killed many royal knights before being slain.
At that time, William of Astrea fought Kurgan, one of the most powerful warriors in the Vollachian Empire. William emerged victorious from this battle, although he was seriously wounded.
Fourteen years ago - The first great expedition took place, during which a company of knights led by Theresia van Astrea was sent to defeat the Hakugei, who had recently appeared. The mission was a complete failure, and Theresia was among those who perished in the battle.
At the same time, Reinhard van Astrea inherited the title and abilities of the Sword Saint. However, this came at a rather unfortunate time, as inheriting these abilities meant that Theresia was stripped of her powers while engaged in battle against the Hakugei.
Around this time, a child of the Lugnican royal family was kidnapped by a group of thieves who had sneaked into the castle undetected. These thieves were allowed to escape thanks to an unknown elite member of the Lugnican royal guard. It is suspected that the child kidnapped that day was Felt because of his golden hair and red eyes, typical of the Lugnican royal family.
Ten years ago - The Oni village was destroyed by members of the Witch Cult. All the inhabitants were killed, except for the twin sisters Rem and Aries , who were saved by Roswaal L Mathers .
Seven years ago: Red Earth and Sky Day None Puck thaws Emilia, unwittingly attracting the attention of Melakuera, the current Great Fire Spirit. Puck successfully defeats Melakuera, inheriting the title of Great Fire Spirit.
Two years ago - The Lugnica royal family began dying from an unknown illness, resulting in the complete absence of a ruling family in Lugnica, as well as the destruction of the pact between the Lugnica royal family and Volcania. The Council of Elders begins searching for potential candidates, leading to the Royal Selection. Crusch Carcasses is the first candidate to be discovered, with Emilia, Priscilla Barielle , and Anastasia Hoshin joining shortly after.
