About Red Blood Cells: Background

Red Blood Cell, also known as AE3803, is a new red blood cell that has just started working. She is a cheerful girl, very hardworking and dedicated to her job. She is always ready to help those in need. However, she is also clumsy and lacks a sense of direction. This causes her to get lost when delivering oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nutrients throughout the body and leads her to encounter dangerous and unexpected situations.

She was very clumsy and often teased by her peers as a child. When she was young, she accidentally got lost and encountered a bacterium. However, she was unable to defend herself and ended up being protected by a myelocyte (white blood cell, U-1146). The two meet for the first time and promise to reunite when they are older.

About Red Blood Cells: Their Capacities

As a red blood cell, its job is to transport cargo throughout the body. As such, it is unable to protect itself. While it cannot defend itself, it can transport cargo throughout the body at a very high speed and squeeze through most spaces to deliver it. Red blood cells also wear a reversible jacket that indicates their moving speed.

They first met when they were younger when Red Blood Cell encountered a bacterium and White Blood Cell helped her. Afterward, they promise to reunite; however, he does not seem to recognize her after finding her. They reunite again when White Blood Cell saves Red Blood Cell from another attack by a bacterium. His kind nature is often seen when he lends a helping hand to the clumsy Red Blood Cell. Out of concern, he sometimes follows her to make sure she doesn't get lost or get into trouble.

Senior red blood cells

Senior Red Blood Cell (AA5100) is one of Red Blood Cell's friends. She is very kind and encourages the juniors she is responsible for. As an older Red Blood Cell, she has much more experience than Red Blood Cell and often helps and guides Red Blood Cell when she is confused or lost. However, despite Senior Red Blood Cell's help, Red Blood Cell always ends up getting lost and sometimes struggles to do her job.

Platelet is a small cell and is the leader of the Platelet Division. She is responsible for repairing wounds and forming blood vessels in the body. She is polite yet adorable, which makes her lovable to all the other cells. In particular, we see Red Blood Cell pampering her and enjoying her kindness, which Platelet seems to appreciate.

The killer T cell is also a white blood cell (a cytotoxic T cell) and operates under the division of killer lymphocytes. Its job is to kill foreign bodies and damaged or infected cells. It has a very aggressive personality and despises white blood cells that form relationships with non-white blood cells. Therefore, it disapproves of white blood cells forming friendships with red blood cells.
