Shadow Sonic - Figures

With his avant-garde design and anti-hero personality, Shadow the Hedgehog quickly became one of the most popular Sonic the Hedgehog characters. Although he was intended to be a one-off, Shadow's popularity prompted SEGA to bring him back as a recurring character. Since his debut in 2001, Shadow has appeared in nearly every major Sonic the Hedgehog series and spin-off title. Three Shadow figures that represent his widespread appeal are "Sir Lancelot Shadow Sonic and the Black Knight," "Shadow the Hedgehog," and "Super Poser Shadow | Sonic the Hedgehog."

Sonic and the Black Knight Sir Lancelot Shadow Figure

Jazwares references Sonic and the Black Knight for this Arthurian-inspired Shadow the Hedgehog figure. As Sir Lancelot from the alternate reality, Shadow wears full armor to signify his status as a knight. The game version wears black armor to match Shadow's colors. However, this version features limited-edition purple armor, painted with a pearlescent finish. Despite the different reality, Shadow still wears his inhibitor rings over his armor. The figure includes a mask to complement Shadow's helmet and his legendary sword, Arondight.

He flexes his fingers on his upturned hand, conveying the same tension present on his scowling face. Vibrant red and yellow accents pop against his matte black body. The inhibitor rings on his wrists and ankles feature a metallic gold paint job. The base takes on a runway appearance and features a hand-painted number in the limited edition.

About Shadow

Shadow the Hedgehog is a hybrid of a hedgehog and Black Arms in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Shadow is the antihero of the franchise and Sonic's rival.

Background

Gerald Robotnik created Shadow using Black Doom's DNA with the goal of creating "the ultimate life form." Gerald intended to use Shadow to find a cure for his granddaughter Maria's terminal illness. However, the military captured Shadow, labeled him a threat, and held him in stasis for fifty years. Eggman freed Shadow to use in his plan to conquer the world. Shadow accompanies Eggman, secretly planning to destroy the world and seek revenge on Maria. He instead decides to stop Eggman's plans and loses his memory in the process. After battling Black Doom and learning the true events of the past, Shadow vows to protect Earth in Maria's honor.

SKILLS

Shadow possesses extreme speed and enhanced power equal to that of Sonic the Hedgehog. His agile form allows him to perform aerial acrobatics at lightning speeds. While not as strong as Knuckles the Echidna, Shadow's brutal fighting style and enhanced strength make him a formidable fighter. Like Sonic, Shadow can harness the power of the Chaos Emeralds. He can achieve a Super form using all seven Chaos Emeralds, but he cannot maintain it for long. Shadow primarily uses spin-based attacks. His unique ability, Black Tornado, allows him to launch opponents long distances by creating a small, powerful whirlwind with his body.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is the franchise's eponymous hero and Shadow's rival. Sonic moves "like the wind," wandering from place to place in search of adventure. He values freedom above all else and hates being tied down. Sonic first meets Shadow after a case of mistaken identity gets him into trouble with GUN. Sonic and Shadow immediately clash on a fundamental level. Sonic prefers to travel the world as a free spirit, letting the road lead him. Shadow values order and believes that a strict moral code should guide everyone's life.

Maria Robotnik

Maria Robotnik was the terminally ill granddaughter of Gerald Robotnik, and the reason for Shadow's creation. While alive, Maria had a cheerful and strong spirit despite her weak body. Due to her condition, Maria was unable to leave the ARK space colony and visit Earth, her greatest dream. She and Shadow grew up together on the ARK and became very close friends. Maria sacrificed herself to save Shadow when it was under military attack. Her dying wish was for Shadow to use his power to protect the people of the ARK and Earth.
