Synopsis
A group called the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute was investigating a recent wave of monster attacks in Japan following the appearance of a mysterious black Shinkansen. The SUEI had a key weapon for the fight: the Shinkalions, bullet trains that can transform into giant mechas. One boy, Hayato Hayasugi, was a huge train fan and stumbled upon his father's secret work for the SUEI. Surprisingly, Hayato quickly became a Shinkalion conductor! Perhaps Japan's best chance for survival, Hayato and other children took on the great responsibility of fighting otherworldly enemies.
A giant new enemy has arrived from space to conquer the planet. Although the SUEI have a new Shinkalion prototype known as ALFA-X to lead the fight, Hayato's father, Hokuto, disappears. A 9-year-old version of Hokuto jumps back in time to the present to help fight the alien attackers and pilots the ALFA-X!
Background
Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion The figures were born in 2015 from a collaboration between the Japan Railways Group and the renowned plastic model company Takara Tomy, manufacturer of Plarail merchandise. Takara Tomy worked closely with the JRG on the design of the trains/robots of
Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion and made them compatible with existing railways. Following the success of the merchandise, the original anime premiered in early 2019. The winter film is a continuation of the anime's story.
Characters
Hayato Hayasugi (Voice of: Ayane Sakura)
One of the main protagonists of the film, Hayato is a Shinkalion driver. He resembles his father, Hokuto, and has short hair. During the film, his casual attire includes a white turtleneck with a blue collar and a blue stripe on one side. His Shinkalion is the E5 Mk II. It is turquoise and yellow in color.
Akita Oga (Voice of: Manami Numakura)
An 11-year-old male who drives the Shinkalion E6 Komachi. His Shinkalion is equal parts red and white. Akita doesn't smile much. He's serious but cares about his friends.
Daimonyama Tsuranuki (Voice of: Rie Murakawa)
An 11-year-old boy, driver of the Shinalion E7 Kagayaki. He is known for being a hotheaded driver and often plays pranks. Tsuranuki usually wears blue and yellow clothes. The E7 Kagayaki is primarily blue and white.
Shinobu Tsukiyama (Voice of: Nanami Yoshimura)
Shinobu is a 10-year-old boy who drives the purple and white Shinkalion E3 Tsubasa. He comes from a family of ninjas.
Hokuto Hayasugi (Voice of: Tomokazu Sugita)
One of the main protagonists, Hokuto, is the curator of the train museum and also the secret director of SUEI. He is the father of Hayato Hayasugi. Hokuto has brown hair and a shaggy chin. He drives a golden Shinkalion called 923 Dr. Yellow.
Young Hokuto Hayasugi (Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya)
During the film, the adult Hokuto disappears, and a 9-year-old version of himself jumps back in time to work with his son and drive the new ALFA-X Shinkalion. The two look very similar. The ALFA-X is primarily white with some gold accents.
Azusa Ueda (Voice of: Ayana Taketatsu)
An 11-year-old YouTuber and member of SUEI, Azusa wears pink clothes and wears her hair in two pigtails.
Seiryu (Voiced by: Kei Shindo)
A former agent of the Kitoralzers, Seiryu befriends Hayato and the others. He has a sweet tooth and is easily seduced by cakes.
Shashot (Voiced by: Yuji Ueda)
Shashot is a driver robot built for the Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa. He considers Hayato a partner and helps support him.
Nahane (Voice of: Kentaro Ito)
Nahane is a member of an ancient race that once lived on Earth. He travels from another planet with Ohanefu to conquer Earth and obtain the new Shinkalion, ALFA-X.
Ohanefu (Voice of: Kotaro Yoshida)
Like Nahane, Ohanefu belongs to the same ancient race that once lived on Earth. Together, they returned from space to conquer Earth and claim the ALFA-X.
