About Shinra Kusakabe

Shinra Kusakabe is a Firefighter Second Class in Company 8 of the Special Firefighting Forces. He aspires to become a hero and constantly helps those around him. However, he is also on a mission to uncover the truth about the fire that killed his family 12 years earlier.

About Shinra Kusakabe: Background

Shinra is an intelligent and courageous character. He wants to be a hero and is always willing to help those in need. However, despite his good intentions, he has been mistaken for an arrogant demon on many occasions. This is due to the fact that he witnessed his mother's death, where he was seen with a smile on his face, leading many people to believe that he was the one who killed her mother. He suffers from nervous laughter and ends up laughing or smiling whenever he is stressed, anxious, angry, or uncomfortable. Despite these misunderstandings, he works hard to be the hero his mother would have been proud of. He also works hard to uncover the truth about the fire that killed his family.

About Shinra Kusakabe: Abilities

Shinra is one of the most powerful characters in the Fire Force. He is primarily seen using his third-generation Ignition ability. Shinra's Ignition ability allows him to increase his strength and speed. In particular, this is reflected in his powerful kicks, which are powerful enough to sever limbs or throw tons of weights through the air with ease. By using his Ignition ability with his feet, he can also jump and control himself in the air. Due to using his powers with his feet, he often leaves behind footprints of ash, earning him the nickname "Devil's Footprints."

Captain Benimaru also taught him how to use hand signs to focus energy within his body. This gives him more control over the flames produced by the Ignition ability. His control allows him to become even stronger and fly farther and faster while using less fire. He later learns how to manifest explosive flames, which gives him more weapons to use in combat.

Hysterical Force is also another ability Shinra can access. This gives him 100% access to his Ignition ability, whereas he usually only has 30%. Hysterical Force can only be used if Shinra is under intense mortal stress, which activates his survival instinct, allowing him to use Hysterical Force. His flames turn blue when this ability is active, signifying their greater power and higher temperature. Due to 100% access to his Ignition ability, he also becomes much stronger and faster.

Shinra also has access to the Adolla Burst, which allows him to use Adolla Grace to become even stronger. While in possession of Adolla Grace, he can travel at the speed of light, allowing him to overcome the laws of physics and travel at insane speeds without being permanently affected.

Other important characters in Fire Force

For Shinra, there are two important characters, Akitaru Obi and Mari Kusakabe. These two characters are essential to its identity and play a major role throughout the series.

Akitaru Obi

Akitaru Obi is the captain of Tokyo Special Forces Company 8. Although he lacks powers, he is willing to fight the Infernals, despite the enormous risks involved. Shinra admires him for his courageous nature. Akitaru's fearless nature, strong sense of justice, and great responsibility towards his teammates earn him great respect from Shinra.

Mari Kusakabe

Mari Kusakabe is Shinra's mother, who died in a fire 12 years ago. She was a kind person who encouraged Shinra to become a hero. After witnessing her death, Shinra is determined to become a hero his mother would be proud of and one who would help those in need. Her death shapes Shinra into the person he is and is a pivotal moment for him. Her death also leads to the formation of his "devil's smile."
