Synopsis
“Even if I'm the sister who sings... I want to do it.”
Shoji Fujimoto is a single father who one day meets a woman named Minami Takasaki outside of work. On television, she hosts an educational children's show, but in private, she isn't even allowed to fall in love. When he realizes how lonely she is, he begins to fall for her, but the slightest scandal could mean the end of his career. Thus begins a mature romance between a single father and a singer.

Show time! Uta no Onee-san Datte Shitai began as a manga series by Mai Girigiri that began serialization on the comic book website ComicFesta in August 2020 and is published under the Mens Screamo imprint.
A TV anime adaptation is currently being produced by Picante Circus ( Crazy About His Fingers None Even a Dad Wants More… None Sweet Punishment - I'm the Guard's Pet - ) and Suiseisha ( Grown-ups Don't Know How to Love! None Fire at Your Fingertips 2 - My Boyfriend is a Firefighter - None A Hot Night with My Boss in a Capsule Hotel ) with animation production by Rabbit Gate. The staff includes Saburou Miura ( ReSTART Combat Athletes Victory! None I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying None My Dating Partner Is a Student, an Aggressive Troublemaker ) as director and scriptwriter, Ken'ichi Hamazaki ( Interspecies Examiners None Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector None Viper GTS ) as character designer, and LAZZ ( I Want to Be His Prey None Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! None Yatogame's Daughter Nikki Kansatsu ) as chief animation director. Minami Takasaki will sing the anime's theme song, "Cafe Latte Koi Gokoro."
Similar to other ComicFesta (now known as AnimeFesta) anime, it will air in two versions: an "on-air version" and an explicit "premium version." However, it will feature the same voice cast for both versions, unlike previous ComicFesta anime. The "premium version" will air before the on-air version at midnight on October 3, 2021, and the "on-air version" will air one hour later (effectively at 1:00 a.m. on October 4) on Tokyo MX and BS11.
Characters
Shoji Fujimoto (Voice of: Sen Yagami)
The protagonist. A single father who aspires to become a picture book author. He has been raising his daughter Kana alone since his wife passed away. He hasn't been in a relationship with a woman in years. He begins to feel attracted to Minami after seeing her sing along to "Onee-san" in Utaou! and seeing how much it helped lift his daughter's spirits.
Minami Takasaki (Voice of: Rikka Kitami)
The singing sister of the Onee-san educational program in Utaou! She loves children and adores her job, which gives her a sense of accomplishment, but at the same time, she feels lonely because she must adhere to the strict rules of her company and finds herself in a position where she is not free to fall in love. She meets Shoji and Kana while drowning her sorrows after the show's public performance is canceled.
Kana Fujimoto (Voice of: Airi Akatsuki)
Shoji's daughter and only child. She became very depressed after her mother's death, but regains her cheerfulness after seeing Minami and Pao-tan. Her favorite dish is parfait, and she has loved Minami and Pao-tan forever. Onee-san to Utaou! None
Kazuhiro Onii-san (Voice of: Kanade Shirakami)
The gymnast brother of the Onee-san educational program in Utaou! He's a favorite among the housewives.
Pao-tan (Voiced by: Alice Sakurai)
The mascot of the Onee-san educational program in Utaou! Apples are his favorite food.
