Dragon Ball Super Chosenshi Retsuden: Chapter 6 (Super Saiyan 2) Figure

Banpresto's Super Chosenshi Retsuden Son Gohan is a bit more on the cartoonish side. The limbs are proportionally short compared to the head and hair, and the colors are very dark and thick. The simple design offers something more, however: a closer resemblance to the source material. Many other figures feature a more correctly proportioned Gohan, but he was never drawn this way. The lack of blood and battle damage gives this figure a cleaner, more display-friendly look.

The furious facial expressions require just the right amount of detail to avoid the uncanny valley, and this figure delivers it perfectly. About Super Saiyan 2 Gohan (SSJ2)

Son Gohan is the son of the main protagonist Son Goku . He was originally planned to take on the role of main protagonist, but due to negative fan reaction, the project was scrapped and he continued his supporting role to Goku and Vegeta. Gohan is quite high in the power level hierarchy, but never shows the will to become stronger.

Background

Born with a pure heart, as a human-Saiyan hybrid, Gohan possesses all the power of a Saiyan but lacks the brutal bloodlust and desire to fight. Unlike his father, Goku, who actively seeks out a challenge, Gohan prefers to spend his time studying peacefully or with his friends and family. His mother, Chi-Chi, strongly encouraged him to study from a young age. This behavior eventually persisted, and after the Cell Saga, Gohan lost a great deal of power and instead became a high school student and part-time superhero.

Special Abilities

Most Saiyans are born with almost unlimited growth potential, provided the right conditions are met. Gohan is half-human and half-Saiyan, so it can be assumed that he also has such potential. However, something is different with Gohan; compared to all other characters, he has been shown to have unmatched natural potential. Extreme instances of emotion would briefly unlock this potential, demonstrating some of the most memorable scenes in the series, from headbutting (and winding up) Raditz as a baby, to launching an all-out attack on Frieza and restraining him as a child. It wasn't until Elder Kai unlocked this potential for him that he became the strongest non-fused character, named Mystic Gohan , in the entire series up to that point.

Other important characters in Dragon Ball Z

Super Saiyan 2 Gohan owes its birth to several characters. Both are androids with very different motivations. Cell is the first and most important character on Gohan's path to Super Saiyan 2, and Android 16 is the character who helps him finally achieve his elusive form.

Cell

Cell was programmed to strive for perfection. He desired to fight the strongest opponents he could find, defeat them, and move on to the next one. Thoroughly enjoying his fight with Goku, Cell was surprised when Goku stepped aside in Gohan's place. Upon hearing of Gohan's extreme power, Cell decided to try to extract it from him through various nefarious means. Creating an army of Cell's juniors to beat up his friends and father was one. Hurling insults at Gohan and mocking him was another. The last straw, however, came thanks to Android 16.

Android 16

Android 16 was a peaceful being. Nature and all life were captivating to Android 16; animals came to him, and small birds even landed on his shoulders. His programming to kill Goku was the only thing wrong with him. Because of this, Dr. Gero deemed it defective and disabled it. Android 16 attempted to self-destruct while holding Cell and instead had his body torn apart when it was discovered that Bulma had removed the bomb from his body during repairs. After asking Mr. Satan to throw his severed head at Gohan, he gave a speech explaining that it was okay to fight when necessary, and that Gohan was protecting nature and the life he loved so much. Then Cell stepped on his head. This was when Gohan achieved Super Saiyan 2.
