“Let’s keep playing until morning, until we’re tired!”
—Susamaru to Tanjiro
Appearance
Susamaru appears as a young girl with pale skin and bright yellow eyes with narrow pupils. She has shoulder-length hair cut at the ends with an orange tint and short, straight bangs that rise above her eyebrows.
She wears a bright orange kimono that shortens at the thighs with a red and yellow obi with a scale-like pattern wrapped around it. Covering her kimono, she wears a black hakama that shortens above her waist, allowing her to move freely. Under her black kimono and hakama, when she joins the battle, she removes them both, exposing a thin sash that covers her arms. Although she normally has an average figure, her muscles are noticeably more rigid when she is fighting seriously. In addition, she is able to grow two new pairs of arms (totaling 6 arms) that come from her shoulders and torso.
Personality
She is portrayed as carefree, always smiling and sometimes laughing during battles. Unlike her partner Yahaba, she has an immature attitude towards life. Before transforming into a demon, she was a young child who played with Temari balls for fun. Muzan Kibutsuji Susamaru implanted a demon in her with the desire to become one of the twelve Kizuki, commanding her to kill enemies. Susamaru only desires to please her master and have fun at the same time.
Asakusa Arc
In the Asakusa arc, Susamaru and his partner, Yahaba, roam the streets of the bustling city in search of a route to their next destination. As Yahaba uses his Blood Demon Art to track the steps of a Demon Slayer carrying a large box, Susamaru walks beside him and throws his temari ball as a guide.
Yahaba discovers that the demon slayer is being pursued by others. Excited to kill her next target, Susamaru wonders how they will destroy them. Yahaba replies that, of course, they must kill them out of revenge for Lord Kibutsuji, just like Susamaru. Susamaru leads her partner to an invisible house hidden behind a false wall.
Susamaru uses his temari to break the seal protecting the house. After finding their opponent, Susamaru agrees with Yahaba that they must brutally destroy everything in their path. Using Yahaba's arrows to direct his temari bullets, Susamaru destroys the house piece by piece. His temari shatters the walls, floor, and roof of the building.
The five find themselves in conflict, with Susamaru using her temari as her main form of attack. The demon Temari continues to attack Nezuko, but this time, Nezuko is able to deflect the bullets with her feet. A frustrated Susamaru calls Nezuko a child and confronts her directly. As they throw the temari back and forth at incredible speeds, Nezuko proves she is getting stronger by being able to return the ball so fast and hard that Susamaru cannot afford to give it up. However, during the fight, influenced by Tamayo's demonic art, she tells Tanjiro that her master's true name is Muzan and becomes cursed.
However, after she forcefully pronounces her name, Kibutsuji's spell seizes Susamaru, and three sinister arms emerge from her head. The weapons completely shatter Susamaru's body, leaving behind her eye. Tamayo notes that her eye isn't labeled with a number, meaning she isn't truly one of the Twelve Demon Moons they were looking for.
Tamayo takes a drop of Susamaru's blood while Tanjiro hears a vague voice demanding one of the temari balls. Tanjiro returns to her, the temari lamenting the fact that Muzan tricked Susamaru into believing she was one of the Twelve Demon Moons, forcing her to fight until her dying breath. In the end, the sun rises and the remains of Demon Temari are completely disintegrated by the sunlight.
