About Suzaku Kururugi

Suzaku Kururugi is the deuteragonist in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. He was born on July 10, 2000, and is the son of Genbu Kururugi, former Prime Minister of Japan. His involvement in the story of Code Geass is profound, as he fights both with and against Lelouch. Here is a brief overview of the character.

Background

Suzaku's existence was kept secret from the world due to a major war between Japan and Britannia. Lelouch and his sister were moved to Kururugi's residence as part of a diplomatic maneuver to bring peace. From there, a friendship between Suzaku and Lelouch began to form. Things quickly turned ugly, however, when Britannia invaded Japan. Suzaku was separated from Lelouch and his sister, later becoming an honorary soldier for Britannia. He reunites with Lelouch during a search of the Shinjuku ghetto and refuses to carry out orders to kill him. Suzaku is later shot by his officer for insubordination, but by pure luck, his pocket watch absorbs the damage from the bullet, allowing him to continue living.
