Tamayo - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Tamayo (珠世) is a beauty who allies with Tanjiro Kamado in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series. She is a skilled doctor who was transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji . Her assistant is always nearby Yushiro, who claims that Tamayo is the most beautiful woman in existence. Her Japanese voice actor is Maaya Sakamoto and is voiced by Laura Post in English. Tamayo first appears in chapter 14 of the manga and episode 8 of the anime series.

Appearance

Claiming to have been transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji , she is at least over 400 years old. Tamayo is a beautiful woman with long, dark brown hair parted in the middle. Her hair is braided in a large bun held in place by a floral hairpin. She has soft, pupil-less eyes that are pale pink fading to lavender. She has a pale complexion that contrasts with her crimson lips.

Tamayo wears a purple kimono decorated with purple flowers and vine branches, held together by a light green, cream-colored obi. On her feet are traditional zori sandals with white socks.

Personality

Even though she is a demon, she is gentle, wise, and intelligent. She has dedicated most of her life to researching demons and the transformation that follows. Tamayo shows great kindness toward humans and tries to take a passive approach when dealing with conflict. Given the generally volatile interaction between humanity and demons, she shows great compassion for humanity and has made it her mission to help the injured or sick with her extensive medical knowledge. Tamayo had a strong preference for abuse, and instead of killing humans for their blood in order to survive, she chose to purchase blood from willing donors. She insisted on educating her assistant Yushiro against abuse and often chastised him for his practice of hitting anyone. She was one of the few demons willing, in her later demon existence, to acquire and retain human emotions.

SKILLS

Medical Knowledge - Displays impressive skills in the field of medicine, particularly with pharmaceuticals, and uses the skill to alter her own body. For example, she uses this technique to require less blood to survive. She was also able to transform the terminally ill Yushiro into a demon without Muzan's blood, and is later able to reverse the cycle while healing the man they encounter in the Asakusa Arc. Tamayo was also able to help Shinobu fill her body with deadly wisteria poison while causing the slightest effects to further demonstrate her pharmaceutical skills.
Anti-Demon Drugs - Tamayo developed this drug to discourage the development of bloodthirsty demonic arts. After his battle with Kaigaku, Yushiro used this drug to treat Zenitsu. With the help of Shinobu and Yushiro, she was finally able to create a drug that would transform a demon into a human, something deemed impossible by the Demon Slayer Corps and the founder of the demon race himself, Muzan Kibutsuji. Tamayo developed an anti-aging drug capable of aging someone 50 years per minute and effectively prescribed it to Muzan along with her humanization drug. Within three hours, the drug served to biologically age him by a millennium, seriously deterring him as his body had to separate the ability to ward off the effects of the drug and simultaneously fight off Demon Slayers.
Demonic Abilities - As a demon created by Muzan, she possesses extremely powerful demonic arts. One such skill is blood enchantment, where she uses her own blood to create various effects on the target. Another scent she uses acts similarly to a truth drug, causing a decline in brain function and allowing the recipient to reveal her lies and not hide her secrets from the user.
Visual Fantasy Aroma - A special technique among her demonic abilities that she used to induce hallucinations in order to save Tanjiro. In this particular event, she obstructed the affected targets' visions with images of beautiful floral patterns.
Blood Seeds - Tamayo uses her flesh and blood to produce numerous small flesh seeds that cover and submerge her target. The seeds then burst and grow into giant pulp trees with various sharp, spiky branches that pierce, impale, and constrain their target. The impact of this strategy was strong enough to deter Muzan, even if only briefly.
Regeneration - Being a powerful demon, she is able to regenerate from all otherwise fatal injuries.
High Vitality – A basic trait all demons possess is high strength compared to humans. However, Tamayo chooses not to resort to violence and primarily chooses the more peaceful option.
