This scale figure shows the adorable giant bird, Filo , in her equally adorable human form. Filo sits on a rock eating a snack with her feet raised off the ground. Her expression is surprised and her mouth forms a small "o" as she looks wide-eyed at her sandwich. Her wings are spread out over her back and feature incredibly detailed sculpting on each individual feather. The sculpting of her long blonde hair shows movement in an invisible wind as it flows sideways. Each ruffle on the hem of her dress and sleeves has been precisely sculpted. The layers of her dress also fold and gather in irregular ways to represent the reaction of different fabrics to her pose and movement. The Shield Hero himself, Naofumi Iwatani , gets an ever-popular Nendoroid figure that fans love. The rounded quality of the chibi figure contrasts wonderfully with the sullen and cynical nature of the series protagonist. While his standard grumpy face has its charms, the figure also features a fighting expression and a crying face. As the Shield Hero, the figure comes with four shields: his Small Shield, the Chimera Viper Shield, the Rage II Shield, and the Air Strike Shield. Series favorite and Crunchyroll Best Girl 2020 winner Raphtalia is now available as a beautifully rendered quarter-scale bunny figure. The figure shows her kneeling on the floor in a shiny red bodice that shows off her curves. Her old slave crest is displayed across her chest, this time not as a status symbol of chattel. The realistic effect of the latex bodice is enhanced by the real fishnet fabric of the tights. Instead of a bunny tail, her natural tanuki tail arches her back. The Story of the Rising of the Shield Hero Series

In a parallel world, heroes with four weapons—sword, spear, bow, and shield—maintain order and peace. Naofumi Iwatani, a Japanese teenager, became the shield-wielding hero tasked with fighting hordes of interdimensional monsters called Waves. While the other heroes received numerous allies and the support of the kingdom, Naofumi had only one ally. This ally, revealed to be the kingdom's princess, betrays him and destroys his reputation. Now a cynical outcast and despised by society, Naofumi trains alone to become a hero. His future seems decidedly bleak until the day he purchases a young tanuki girl, Raphtalia, from a slave trader. Naofumi, Raphtalia, and a giant bird monster named Filo learn to trust and support one another. Together, they fight to become the saviors of their world and discover the secret of the Waves.

Development of the Rising of the Shield Hero series

The series began as a web novel on the user-generated publishing site Shosetsuka ni Narou in 2012. Author Aneko Yusagi received a publishing offer from Media Factory the following year. The series was republished in light novel format with expanded storylines and illustrations by artist Seira Minami. A subsequent manga adaptation began in 2014. In 2017, Kadokawa and Media Factory announced that the series would be adapted into an anime. The anime, by studio Kinema Citrus, premiered in 2019. By early 2019, combined sales of the light novels and manga had exceeded 6.2 million, increasing by an additional 1.2 million after the anime's release. Initially, the series was criticized in the United States due to storylines involving the slave trade and false claims of sexual assault during the #MeToo movement. However, the controversy died down and the series confirmed a second and third season of the anime.
