Synopsis

Gaius is a sage and the most powerful wizard in the world, but he feels the limitations of the crest he was born with. In order to change his crest, he is reincarnated in a new body! Now, in a world far in the future, he takes the name Mathias and obtains the "Crest of Close Combat," the best crest for magical combat. But for some reason, the crest has become known by this time as the "Crest of Failure"! In this world where time has passed, magic has declined, and misunderstandings about magical theories have become dominant. Now it is up to Mathias, a boy with the weakest crest and the wisdom of a sage, to overthrow the common sense of the modern world!

Characters

Mathias Hildesheimer (Voice of: Nina Tamaki)
An ancient sage who reincarnated to obtain the Fourth Crest, the crest best suited for magical combat. Although he claims to be the strongest in the world, he is limited by his weak crest. After his reincarnation, he succeeds in obtaining the crest, but he is somewhat alien to the common sense of the time.

Lurie Aventrot (Voice of: Sayumi Suzushiro)
A young girl who comes to the Second Royal Academy to take the entrance exam. While looking for a replacement sword for the one she broke the day before, she meets Mathias. She possesses the First Crest, the "Crest of Glory," which excels in enchantment magic. Although she has a reserved and polite personality, she has a close bond with Mathias.

Lepsius Weapon (Voice of: Haruka Shiraishi)
Lurie's best friend. She has highly developed intuition and is fearless. Unwilling to be married off to live somewhere in the countryside, she leaves the countryside to attend the Royal Second Academy. She possesses the Second Crest, the "Crest of Standard," and is more skilled with a bow than a sword.

Iris (Voiced by: Shiori Izawa)
Although she takes the form of a girl, her true identity is that of a calamity-class black dragon from legend. She knew Mathias in her previous life and was invited by him to join the Royal Second Academy. She has even less common sense than Mathias and is unable to control her power, so whenever she attempts something, she causes catastrophic damage.
