Theresia van Astrea is a former Sword Saint and heroine of the Demihuman Civil War. She is a tall woman with blue eyes and long red hair, which she sometimes wore in a ponytail (especially when fighting). She wore hair accessories such as hair clips or ribbons. Theresia favored loose-fitting dresses when off duty and otherwise wore the uniform of a Lugnica knight. She was kind, open-minded, and sociable, tending to put the wishes of others before her own. She always hated the burden of being the Sword Saint, but she still carried out her duties.
History
Theresia was born to Veltol and Tishua Astrea. During her childhood, she avoided using a sword, fearing the harm it could cause. She was born under the divine protection of the God of Death. However, at the age of 12, she was given the title of Sword Saint by her uncle Fribal van Astrea. However, she refrained from actively using her skills. Later, she met a young William. While training early in the morning in an abandoned ruin, the two often met and talked during this time, and Theresia constantly asked him why he used the sword. At first, he replied that it was all he had, but over time, his own determination strengthened, and he declared that he used it to protect others.
One day after Wilhelm was knighted, he discovered that demihumans were attacking his hometown. Theresia accompanied him on his journey home. Although Wilhelm fought valiantly, he was unable to defeat the large number of opponents in his path. Theresia intervened at the last moment and saved his life, killing all the enemies before them. Back in the capital, Wilhelm confronted her about keeping his skills a secret. She easily defeated him, to which he declared he would not return to the training ground. For her part, Theresia had found her own reason to fight and took part in the war, playing a key role in its end.
Years later, she was being celebrated for her exploits during the war when a hooded Wilhelm burst into the ceremony and challenged her to a duel. He managed to defeat her and vowed to carry the burden of the Holy Sword in her place now that she was the "weaker." They shared their first kiss and eventually married. They had a son together—Heinkel Astrea—who in turn would father Reinhard van Astrea None.
14 years before the beginning of the story, the great White Whale is sighted. Theresia takes the place of a frightened Heinkel and leads a group of knights in battle against the demonic beast. Unfortunately, at this point, she loses her powers as a Sword Saint and is defeated. At this point, it is still unknown whether she loses because the blessing leaves her or if her powers were passed on to her after her defeat. Either way, a young Reinhard would inherit them at this point.
A destitute Wilhelm swears revenge on the White Whale for her and even succeeds with Subaru 's help. During a Witch Cult attack on Priestelle , they brought Theresia back to terrorize the city. Wilhelm tried to face her and defeat her for good, but he could not defeat her. Eventually, Reinhard intervened and mercilessly killed her, as he saw her as nothing more than a defiled corpse. Theresia found her last moments of lucidity in Wilhelm's arms where they confessed their love for each other.
Relationships
William of Astrea - Wilhelm and Theresia were happily married until she died during a white whale hunt. He was already extremely devoted to her and took revenge on her behalf. When she was finally shot by Reinhard after being revived, she died in Wilhelm's arms.
Heinkel Astrea - Heinkel is Theresia's son who inherits the Sacred Sword of Astrea from her.
Reinhard van Astrea - Reinhard is Theresia's grandson via Heinkel and is the one who delivers the fatal blow to her living corpse.

Divine Protection - Thérèse had two Divine Protections in her life:
- Divine Protection of the Death God - She was born with this ability, which curses anyone harmed by her blows with wounds that cannot heal. Her strength is based on proximity, and she is able to reopen the wounds she has inflicted.
- Divine Protection of the Sword Saint - She inherited this ability at the age of 12. Through this, she gained unparalleled skill with the sword. Her sword style is described as a beautiful, deadly dance that utilizes acrobatic flourishes.

Reid, the Dragon Sword - She used this sword in her capacity as a Sword Saint and refused to be drawn unless facing opponents she deemed worthy.
Astrea's Sacred Sword - Her favorite sword which was later passed down to her son Heinkel.
