About Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo Ghoul began as a manga series created by Sui Ishida and first published in 2011. Later in 2014, an animation series produced by the Pierrot animation studio and directed by Shuhei Morita aired between July and September. The story takes place in a world where cruel humanoid creatures called ghouls commit gruesome murders daily in Tokyo. The ghouls commit these crimes because they can only feed on human flesh, causing incredible fear in the city. The protagonist of the story is a timid young student named Kaneki Ken, who gets into an accident with a ghoul trying to devour him. Fortunately, he survives the incident but is forced to receive an organ transplant from the ghoul that tried to kill him. The operation kept Kaneki alive but transformed him into a half-ghoul in the process, changing his life forever.
