Toru Oikawa Haikyuu!! - Figures

Within the franchise and fandom, Toru Oikawa is one of the most memorable characters in the Haikyū!! series. Fans love Oikawa not only as the original final boss-style antagonist, but also for his relatable combat within a cast filled with incredible talent. Of course, his bully-like personality and multiple conflicted relationships add to his enduring appeal. Oikawa was also the first non-protagonist character released for Haikyū!! , even before series regulars and main cast favorites. His far-reaching popularity has inspired scale figures, articulated models, and multiple chibi depictions. Three figures of Oikawa that represent his cheeky personality are “Chibi Kyun Chara Haikyū!! Chibi Kyun Chara Haikyu!! High School Vol. 1 - Toru Oikawa figure

This chibi figure from Banpresto shows Oikawa during his time as Kitagawa Daiichi. Oikawa wears his middle school practice jersey, with the school's kanji emblazoned on the back. He crouches in a defiant stance with one fist clenched and the other hand extended toward his lower eyelid. He sticks out his tongue and his eyebrows are curved downward in anger. His pose and demeanor are reminiscent of his third-grade encounter with a young Tobio Kageyama . The figure comes with a small stand depicting a Kita-ichi uniform collar and the school's name written in kanji. "Oikawa" is also written across the top. A subtle detail is that Oikawa wears the same model of volleyball shoe he wears in the anime throughout high school.

Haikyu!! Toru Oikawa Creator x Creator Figure

Oikawa stands with a cocky attitude in this figure from Banpresto's Creator x Creator line. He poses with his feet apart and his right hand resting on his hip. His left hand extends outward as he points at a target in the distance. He wears his standard white Aoba Johsai uniform with his track jacket draped over his shoulders. The black knee pad and white knee pad will also stand out to Oikawa fans. His head is slightly turned toward his raised hand, and he wears a smug expression. The subtle sculpting details of his jersey show realistic movement in response to his pose. The most notable sculpting details include the muscles in his arms and forearms, as well as the creases in his fingers. The figure comes in two versions, one in color and another in grayscale with only Seijoh blue filled in.

Nendoroid Haikyu!! Toru Oikawa School Uniform Ver. Figure

Oikawa returns to the Nendoroid line, this time wearing the Seijoh school uniform. His beige plaid pants complement the light colors of his sweater and blazer. Oikawa notably wears his uniform properly with his tie neatly tied instead of loosely like most of Team Seijoh. The figure comes with two face plates: a winking expression and a crudely mocking expression with his tongue sticking out. Optional parts also include additional hand parts, including a taunting gesture as well as two peace signs and a milk bun accessory. There is also a background of Team Seijoh's favorite ramen shop. Finally, the figure also includes a stand with a volleyball motif in Aoba Johsai's colors.

About Toru Oikawa

Toru Oikawa is considered the best setter in Miyagi Prefecture, and perhaps the best in Japan. Oikawa had a natural affinity for sports growing up, especially volleyball. However, over time, he was faced with players with greater natural talent that he couldn't seem to overcome. This harsh reality took its greatest form in the genius setter of his first year, Tobio Kageyama . Eventually, Oikawa accepted the difference between himself and the genius players around him and honed his individual skills, making him a terrifying opponent in high school volleyball. Despite his serious commitment to the sport, Oikawa has a flashy and often petty personality that clashes with most of the players around him. His good looks have also earned him a large fan base and media attention, making him a bigger target for resentment from his peers.

Other important characters from Haikyu!!

Hajime Iwaizumi is Oikawa's childhood best friend and their team's attacking ace, Aoba Johsai. Iwaizumi often has to rein in Oikawa's childish antics, especially when he clashes with Kageyama. Like Oikawa, Iwaizumi isn't a genius or a massive player, so he receives less attention than the other aces in the prefecture. However, his strength, reliability, and self-confidence make him the most valued member of his team.

Wakatoshi Ushijima is the top ace in Miyagi Prefecture and the third-highest in Japan. As a left-handed hitter, Ushijima's attacks are particularly difficult to withstand. This, combined with his natural feel for the game and well-above-average strength, makes him a seemingly insurmountable monster in high school volleyball. Oikawa considers Ushijima his ultimate barrier to overcome, as Ushijima's team is always the one that ultimately defeats Oikawa.
