Synopsis

High school student Takuma Akutsu has a frightening face that terrifies everyone around him and has earned him the nickname "Demon." As such, he's very lonely and resigned to fending for himself. But all that changes when he's forced to help nine Valkyrie sisters fight monsters that threaten human civilization. And how will he help them? By loving them, of course!

Background

Val x Love is adapted from Ryousuke Asakura's manga, which is currently airing in Monthly Shonen Gangan. The anime adaptation was announced in the magazine's May 2019 issue, and the first season will air in October 2019. Rikako Aida will perform the series' opening theme, and the show will feature three alternating ending themes performed by the Valkyrie voice actors in groups of three.

Takuma Akutsu (Voice of: Yuya Hirose)

Age: 16 years old
Takuma is a 16-year-old high school student whose fearsome appearance and face have earned him the nickname "Demon." Unable to make friends, he is afraid of human contact. In reality, he just wanted to be left alone, but he finds himself drawn into the battle to save humanity when the nine Valkyrie sisters move in with him.

Natsuki Saotome (Voice of: Kaede Hondo)

The seventh of the nine Valkyrie sisters, Natsuki Saotome is in Takuma's class. At school, she is a gentle and kind angel, but hides a strong will. She has developed feelings for Takuma since he saved her. Natsuki uses "boku" as a personal pronoun and worries that her breasts are smaller than those of her sisters.

Itsuyo Saotome (Voiced by: Ai Kakuma)

Itsuyo Saotome is the fifth of the nine Valkyrie sisters and the student council president at Takuma's school. She is beautiful and intelligent, but she only uses Takuma to contribute to the human world and gain her father's attention.

Mutsumi Saotome (Voice of: Rina Hidaka)

The sixth of the nine Valkyrie sisters, Mutsumi Saotome attends Takuma's school and is also an up-and-coming idol. She likes Takuma, but is shy and believes dating is impossible due to his busy schedule.

Ichika Saotome (Voice of: Yumi Uchiyama)

Ichiko Saotome is the eldest of the Valkyrie sisters. For some unknown reason, she doesn't live with the others at Takuma's house but watches over them from the shadows.

Futaba Saotome (Voice of: Yumi Hara)

The second eldest of the Valkyrie sisters, Futaba Saotome handles all the household chores and is like a mother to the other girls. On the battlefield, however, she outshines them all!

Misa Saotome, the third Valkyrie sister, is strong-willed but caring. She fights enemies with threads and uses her sewing skills to make stuffed animals for her sisters.

The fourth of the Valkyrie sisters, Shino Saotome wears a helmet on her head and is a strange woman who lives in a shed in the garden.
