Whis - Dragon Ball
Whis is a Dragon Ball character created by Akira Toriyama . His first appearance is in the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film in the 2013 feature film as an attendant of the main antagonist Lord Beerus and returns as a supporting character in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection "F" film and as a main character in Dragon Ball Super manga and anime series.
Character and personality
Whis is an angel and servant of the God of Destruction Beerus. His appearance is based on that of a human, unlike Beerus. He has pale blue skin, white hair, purple eyes, and effeminate features. He holds a long scepter, the Angel Staff with a floating gem (Metamo Ring), on his right hand. A large light blue ring floats around his neck. His attire is a long-sleeved brown robe, a black breastplate with a dangling white and orange diamond decoration, and a blue belt. He wears black high-heeled shoes with white gaiters.
Despite his peaceful, aloof, and calm personality, Whis is absent-minded and effeminate. He is very eccentric, and his priorities can sometimes be questionable. He remains calm even when his student, Beerus, is angry, although this often irritates him when his student takes things too far. He can be very perceptive and carefree, and is not surprised by anything that does not directly involve Beerus, such as being impressed by Hit's Time Skip or Goku's Kaio Ken.
After seeing Goku master Ultra Instinct, he felt proud as a teacher and was pleased with Goku's progress thanks to the lessons he had taught him. He shows emotion despite his carefree attitude. He once became nervous when Zeno wanted to meet Goku, which is understandable as the situation involved the Omnipotent King. He became exasperated by Goku's behavior towards the Grand Minister and Zeno, showing confusion when Goku gave Zeno his nickname. However, he has a respectful, well-mannered demeanor and dislikes poor table manners, usually commenting on Beerus's poor diet whenever he visits a planet.
Background
Whis was trained by his older sister Vados , who is the angel and assistant to the God of Destruction Champa. She was responsible for training Whis, while Whis trains Beerus in martial arts. As Beerus's martial arts teacher, his power level remains higher than Beerus's. He can easily knock Beerus out when he goes on a rampage with a single neck strike, as seen in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Whis displays lightning speed, far faster than Goku as seen in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F during their training with Goku and Vegeta, dodging their blows even with his hands behind his back, and then blocking their blows with the use of only one finger. While he plays with *Super Saiyan Type C Broly on Dragon Ball Super: Broly by easily dodging his attacks, moving quickly using only his normal moves. He claims to be the fastest in the universe by moving through nebulae in Dragon Ball Super, although he admits that his father, Grand Minister Le Might, is far stronger. The only beings stronger would be Zeno and Zeno from the future. At one point, Vados tells Goku and Vegeta that she is stronger than Whis, but Whis believes they are both evenly matched.
