World is Mine (song by Hatsune Miku)

"The World Is Mine" (ワールドイズマイン), was released on May 31, 2018. It was produced by Ryō of Supercell fame. The song is about a sincere and in love girl who, through many indirect phrases that make her sound like a spoiled brat in need of attention, just wants the person she loves to give her the attention she deserves and return her feelings.
The song was entered into the Hall of Legends and has received numerous covers by other Vocaloids, with lyrics modified to fit the character's perspective. It is one of Ryo's most notable songs and one of the most popular Vocaloid songs of all time. The song currently has over 8 million views on Nico Nico Douga None.
The music video for the song was a still illustration by the artist Red Juice , which showed a stern-looking Hatsune Miku lying on a bed covered with a red and black checkered sheet. She wears long black stockings, a short black skirt, and a thin silk shirt with a black ribbon. Miku looks at the camera while touching her fingertips in a serious yet seductive manner. The image was so popular that in December 2009, Good Smile Company released a 1/8 scale replica of the image titled Supercell with Miku Hatsune: The World Is Mine (Natural Frame). The replica could be framed to hang on a wall or placed on a desk, and came in brown and "natural" frame colors. The replica retailed for 8,381 yen.

An official sequel titled "I'll Teach You" (教えてあげる) was sung by Supercell's vocalist Nagi.

Interpretation

The first half of the song is filled with demands for attention, "always notice how I changed my hair," "look me up and down," and "if I say one word, you have to answer with three" and so on, which without a subject can make it sound like she's ordering the whole world around, but as she gets into the second half, it becomes clear she's talking to one person.
She craves attention and gives it her all, to appear haughty rather than needy, but ultimately, her facade is hard to keep up because she keeps pointing out that her hand is lonely, which is the only way she can find to say she wants to hold hands.
Rather than being a princess, she just wants to be treated like one, and while she says she's not self-centered in her antics, she accepts reprimands if necessary, almost acknowledging that she might go a bit too far on some points. "I'll stay away from strawberry shortcakes and premium egg puddings, but don't think of me as a self-centered girl," she says, losing a bit of confidence. A moment later, she follows up by saying that she can handle herself just fine, "if you don't keep a close eye on me, I might just walk away, you know?" and walking away from the target of her affections, only to be instantly held by him, as she nearly gets hit by a car. The song then ends with her remarking that suddenly being held by him was much more dangerous for her than almost getting run over.
