Zenitsu Agatsuma - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Zenitsu Agatsuma (我妻善逸) is generally seen as a coward, has low self-esteem, and sometimes gives up when given a job. He is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, and also one of the main traveling companions of the main character Tanjiro Kamado and one of the main protagonists of the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series. He faced the Tongue Demon in the series, defeating it while it was sleeping. Due to the personality discrepancy between his cowardly side and his willingness to protect those he cares about, he is a soft-hearted and kind character. In the English dub of the anime, Zenitsu is voiced by Alex Le . In the original Japanese version, he is voiced by Hiro Shimono.

Appearance

His hairstyle is bowl-shaped, composed of tufts of hair of varying lengths, tapering at the ends. Initially black, after being struck by lightning, his hair took on a yellow hue that faded to a dark orange at the ends. Zenitsu's eyes are slanted downward, and the irises begin with a brown to golden hue. He wears a pale brown variation of the traditional Demon Slayer outfit consisting of a dark brown gakuran shirt, a white sash around his waist, and stretchy hakama pants, along with a gradient haori patterned in yellow and orange with his signature mini-triangle. In addition to this, Zenitsu also wears a pair of tabi boots, wrapped with 3 white bows on the front, with the same pattern as his haori, and silver-laced zori sandals.

Personality

Zenitsu claims that he doesn't have much longer to live due to how dangerous the Demon Slayer profession is. After completing the Final Selection, his initial comments were pessimistic. Considering his abilities, he also has very low self-esteem, to the point where he feels essentially worthless, as seen when he couldn't imagine killing a Demon he had, instead deluding himself into thinking it was Shoichi, even though the latter was a young child with no notable Demon Slayer abilities. Zenitsu is in a constant state of anxiety and paranoia, always crying and trying to avoid the sight of risk. He says he wants to live a humble and normal life instead of that of a Demon Slayer in which he believes he is worthless from the start.

Despite his weaknesses, Zenitsu has the will to live up to the expectations of others and dreams of having the strength to protect everyone he cares about. A surprising trait of Zenitsu is that he is blunt when it comes to women, telling girls to marry him when they show the least bit of compassion. He even willingly puts himself in danger to protect or show off to the opposite sex, thus changing his usual pessimistic outlook on life in general. When presented with the fundamental goal of protecting people, he shows dedication, explicitly stating that he puts himself in danger to protect Nezuko Kamado , showing how much he cares for her. He shows great respect for his deceased teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, which helps him overcome obstacles when needed.

SKILLS

Enhanced Sense of Hearing - His enhanced sense of hearing allows Zenitsu to hear the faintest sounds, helping him locate hostile demons. He is also able to hear people's inner thoughts if used to his full potential.
Unconscious Combat – When unconscious or asleep, Zenitsu's personality changes. This personality is like an alter ego. He becomes an even more powerful swordsman, capable of fighting demons with determination and calm analysis. In this meditative state, he becomes stronger and pushes beyond his limits to his greatest potential.
Thunderclap Style - (雷の呼吸) This Thunderclap is a technique that increases the user's strength, speed, and agility, taught to Zenitsu by his grandfather and former pillar, Jigoro Kuwajima. He primarily uses the Thunderclap Flash technique from the first style to dash forward and slash at lightning speed.
Seventh Form: Blazing Thunder God - (漆ノ型火雷神) The seventh form of the Thunder Breathing style, which Zenitsu invented himself. The user produces a beast that emits fire and lightning like a dragon. This form, combined with God Speed, allows Zenitsu to run incredibly fast, allowing him to defeat Kaigaku, the Upper Sixth Moon. Until Kaigaku's death, Zenitsu acknowledged that this form was special to him alone and that he had created it as an opponent in hopes of rivaling him.
